About

Danielle Flikkema

My name is Danielle, a born and raised Chicago area girl who has a passion for writing and lots of other {random} stuff.

Adam-Flikkema-Blue-Steel

I am married (see our wedding on Style Me Pretty!) to this stud here (the man, not the dog…that’s them doing their best “Blue Steel” interpretation) and if you haven’t guessed by now, that is our sweet little (crazy, mischievous, and sometimes maddening) puppy, Griffin.

I love my family and friends pretty ferociously, I am (annoyingly) opinionated, a bit snarky,
and really just love to love life. I love traveling, food (specifically pizza and mac & cheese), music, shopping, and Instagram. I have a hard time functioning most days without coffee and am always up for a good debate.

I am slightly addicted to quotes, champagne, murder shows, good books, and Pinterest. Cooking and crafting find their way into my life on a pretty routine basis as well. I love hosting parties of any kind (I mean, any excuse to cook and have your friends over- why not?!) All of this sounds super girly, which is a big part of who I am. But I also love sports (The Bears, Blackhawks, and Cubs to be exact), and a good hoppy beer. I am that girl that yells at the TV if my team (specifically, Jay Cutler) is sucking it up.

I am terrible at telling jokes, but sometimes try anyways. I like adventures, but I am also a planner- I need to know what the hell is going on! I studied Clinical Psychology in college- learning a little bit about Psychology, and a lot about life.

I think life is full and crazy and big. It’s gritty and great, sad and surprising, and somewhere between all of that- we are all on a journey of experiences and moments, and memories. I am just trying to make sense of things and enjoy the ride along the way.

Overall, I just like to write and share my thoughts with people. I think stories are important, and people find a type of kinship in them and in turn, in each other. That is why I’m here. I hope you enjoy what you find, and come back again and again. If you’re looking for more just start from here

P.S.- About the name- If you are into literature, or remember anything from school then you’ll know what an “allusion” is. If not, here is a good refresher- “allusion” as defined by Flowcabulary.com;

“Definition: A direct or indirect reference to something historical, literary, religious, or mythical. The author usually uses references that will be understood by his or her audience, such as an event, book, myth, place, or work of art. You can also make allusions to pop culture. Why Writers Use It: Allusions can help people see unique connections between two ideas. The reference can help the audience better understand a subject. Allusions can also be surprising and funny, and are a favorite tool for rappers to prove their extensive knowledge of many topics. In other words: dropping good allusions will make you sound smart.”

And the word “delusional” is one of my personal favorites. If you don’t know or recall what it means- I love the way Urban Dictionary defines it here: delusional

And there you have- “Allusional”.
